The Water Scientists provide chlorination of internal services and external water pipework. External water pipes are normally new connection service pipes connecting a property to water company mains infrastructure.
What type of pipework needs Chlorination, Disinfection?
Most water companies require new external pipework considered to be over-size to be chlorinated, and in most cases, microbiologically tested. Length and/or diameter is used to determine if a pipe is over-sized and every water company has their own specific requirements. Links to water company resources can be found on our Chlorination Certificate page.
The Water Scientists have chlorinated everything from a 3metre pipe to those over 5000metres. We provide our services across the UK from Devon and Cornwall to Wales, London and Scotland.
Chlorination is required by most UK Water companies prior to connection of over-sized water pipes. The criteria of what is considered over-sized varies between Water companies but is usually related to the length and/or diameter of the water pipe. Please refer to your Water company requirments, resources can be found here.
You will require water chlorination and disinfection if:
The currently exisiting connection has been left unused for a long period of time and the water has been sitting still in the pipework.
The connection is moving from one private water supply to another water mains.
Your current connection has a contamination from sewage, ground water or animals.
